Community, Partnerships and Awards

We are proud to have ‘community’ at the heart of our school. We celebrate the difference women have made locally, nationally and internationally. Annual events such as Make a Difference Day, Black History Month and our Inter-Generational Projects put equality and diversity at the centre of our school. Our students have sponsored many charities during these events through ingenious fundraising activities.

Our students support and regularly fundraise for the charity, 

Commonwealth Girls Education FundThe CGEF helps girls to complete their secondary or high school education in their own Commonwealth country in cases where, for economic reasons, this might not otherwise be possible.

As part of our community links, we work closely with our local primary schools and with other schools locally and nationally, particularly through the;

International Partnerships

Our International Programme partners with schools from around the world to provide visiting pupils with the opportunity to attend an English school whilst visiting the UK.  Visiting pupils are given an Eltham Hill School ‘buddy’ – a pupil from a year group of similar age – who they will shadow and attend academic lessons with.

Since September 2016, we’ve had visitors from Thailand, Belgium, China and Netherlands.

SSAT Award - EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES AWARD 2023

We are delighted that our excellent outcomes have been recognised by SSAT (The Schools, Students and Teachers Network) in this year’s Educational Outcomes Awards. The award recognises that Eltham Hill School is among the highest performing secondary schools in the country, based on 2023 performance data and information from Ofsted.

Eltham Hill School was recognised in two categories, receiving awards for being in the top 20% of schools nationally for student progress and in the top 10% of non-selective schools for student attainment in the 2023 end of KS4 exams.

The SSAT Educational Outcomes database compares all state-funded schools in England. To be recognised with an Educational Outcomes Award is a significant achievement and a testament to the work of the whole school community.

This success is down to the superb learning and teaching, outstanding support and inspirational leadership of students, staff, parents and governors. SSAT Award - LEadership through moral purpose

FfEE Leadership through moral purpose

We were delighted to receive an award from the SSAT in recognition of our Transforming Practice in ‘Leadership through moral purpose’. This follows a day long audit from the SSAT moderator and a peer review from St Marks Academy in Mitcham. In issuing the award the moderator referred to, ‘ ‘the strong moral purpose from all who lead the school’ and reported they could clearly see the impact of our work in the ‘exceptional school environment’. It was noted that Leaders in school ‘are actively involved in sharing the schools work with other schools, both through training on diversity, anti-racism and racial literacy for staff and through supporting other schools locally with their curriculum planning’. In summary the moderator stated that, ‘Eltham Hill School totally embraces the transformational practice described by FfEE ‘Leadership through moral purpose’ and ‘the school is an exemplar to others.’

Following on from this success we will be looking at further unpicking our core values of ‘Excellence, Happiness and Success’ in 2024/25, linking these more strongly with our Eltham Hill Learner Profile. We also plan to review the impact of our 2021-23 Equalities action plan in May 2024 so that we can begin the next stage of the process towards becoming an even more inclusive school community.

GENDER ACTION SCHOOLS AWARD

Initiator BadgeAt Eltham Hill School, we are proud to have been awarded the Gender Action Schools Award. We are currently an Initiator school and we are working towards becoming a Champion School in terms of Gender Action.  This has led to our leadership reviewing all forms of communication, display, activities and lesson resources to ensure that gender equality is embedded throughout our school. 

This award reflects our vision to tackle all gender stereotypes within our school setting. We put gender equality at the heart of policy and practice, working together with staff and students to promote the vision that there are no limits to achievements and ambitions in terms of gender. We believe that work around gender equality brings about lasting cultural change.

Governor Mark

Governor Mark is a national award. It is a kite mark which provides external evaluation of the quality of governance in a school.

This is a challenging award. Not only does a governing body need to show that it follows good procedures and fulfils statutory duties, but there is a high value placed on evidence of impact – the difference the governing body makes to a school.
