Speech and Language Support

Speech and Language support – What we do and why

Speech, language and communication

At Eltham Hill School we identify and support students, who may have particular difficulties with their speech, language and communication skills.  As a school we would encourage all students to be able to understand much of what has been said, express themselves clearly, share their feelings and make their emotional needs known.

All students can benefit from support in speech, language and communication.  We know how important, language is for learning and attainment, so for those who find this difficult we provide support in the following ways;

  • Social skills groups
  • Language groups
  • Friendship groups

Some students may work with the Speech and Language Therapist on 1-1 basis or as a group.  Teaching Assistants also deliver these groups after receiving training and resources from the Speech and Language Therapist.

How can you help your daughter make progress?
