World Book Day 2026

Eltham Hill School celebrated the 29th World Book Day alongside the official Year of Reading 2026, with a week of activities encouraging students to read for pleasure and explore new books.

Students shared their own reading journeys in assemblies, while visiting authors Sharanda Keats, Janelle McCurdy and Simon James Green delivered talks and workshops across Key Stages 3 and 4.

World Book Day itself featured staff and student costume competitions, including an Alice in Wonderland themed office team, as well as classroom door decorating competitions inspired by favourite books.

Students can continue the celebrations by entering the Greenwich 500 Word Competition and exploring recommended reading lists from staff and students.
