Community and Partnerships

COMMUNITY

We are proud to have ‘community’ at the heart of our school. We celebrate the difference women have made locally, nationally and internationally. Annual events such as Make a Difference Day, Black History Month and our Inter-Generational Projects put equality and diversity at the centre of our school. Our students have sponsored many charities during these events through ingenious fundraising activities.

Greenwich Community Schools Partnership

GCSP logoOur school is an active member of the Greenwich Community Schools Partnership. This partnership is a group of maintained schools, and one stand-alone academy, all situated within the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The group represents nurseries, schools, colleges, and specialist provision, educating children from nursery to 6th Form. It is open to all community schools who share our common beliefs and wish to work collaboratively with others to enable self-sustaining school improvement.

We believe:

  • Schools should be representative of, and democratically accountable to, their local communicates. They should seek the common good. Headteachers must seek to serve their children and young people, upholding the Nolan Principles for Public Life.
  • Children and young people educated by our schools should be equipped with the knowledge and skills to open all doors in the world.
  • Teachers occupy a particularly important role in national life, so schools must seek, develop and retain, to the best of their ability, the highest quality of qualified staff.
  • Knowledge and creativity are central to the development of children and young people.

We work together to:

  • Share expertise,
  • Support each other in times of challenge,
  • Develop an exceptionally strong common workforce,
  • Provide model community education in Greenwich to rival any other provision.

We believe this creates the conditions in which children and young people in Greenwich can achieve highly and we can raise expectations and aspirations for children and young people of all backgrounds.

Attachement Research Community (ARC) Learning Hub

Arc LogoEltham Hill School is proud to be involved as a lead school within the ARC Learning Hub, supporting the sharing of effective, inclusive practice at local, regional and national level.

The ARC Learning Programme aims to create and sustain a national network of Learning Hubs made up of schools and educational settings that are leading practitioners of relational approaches including trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice.   This growing network establishes centres of excellence across Early Years, Primary, Secondary, Post 16, and Special and Alternative Provision, including Pupil Referral Units, supporting positive outcomes for children and young people nationwide.

International Partnerships

Our International Programme partners with schools from around the world to provide visiting pupils with the opportunity to attend an English school whilst visiting the UK.  Visiting pupils are given an Eltham Hill School ‘buddy’ – a pupil from a year group of similar age – who they will shadow and attend academic lessons with. Since September 2016, we’ve had visitors from France, Spain, Finland, Norway, Thailand, Belgium, China and Netherlands.
