SSAT Leading Edge Award

Leading Edge LogoEltham Hill School received an award from the SSAT in recognition of our Transforming Practice in ‘Leadership through moral purpose’. This means our school has met the highest standards of the Framework for Exceptional Education and that our work in this area is amongst the most effective practice nationally. 

In issuing the award the moderator referred to, ‘the strong moral purpose from all who lead the school’ and reported they could clearly see the impact of our work in the ‘exceptional school environment’. It was noted that Leaders in school ‘are actively involved in sharing the schools work with other schools, both through training on diversity, anti-racism and racial literacy for staff and through supporting other schools locally with their curriculum planning’. In summary the moderator stated that, ‘Eltham Hill School totally embraces the transformational practice described by FfEE ‘Leadership through moral purpose’ and ‘the school is an exemplar to others.’ 


SSAT Award - Educational Outcomes Award

EO 2025 Awards Logo RGB (Landscape)We are delighted that our excellent outcomes have been recognised by SSAT (The Schools, Students and Teachers Network) in this year’s Educational Outcomes Awards. The award recognises that Eltham Hill School is in the top 20% of non-selective schools nationally for student attainment in the 2025 end of KS4 exams. 

The SSAT Educational Outcomes database compares all state-funded schools in England. To be recognised with an Educational Outcomes Award is a significant achievement and a testament to the work of the whole school community.

SSAT Framework for Exceptional Education – Wellbeing

FfEE   WellbeingWe are very proud to have achieved accreditation by the SSAT for exceptional practice in wellbeing at Eltham Hill. In her report of the visit, Meryl Davis stated that: “The commitment to Wellbeing of staff and students at this school is exemplary and should provide a benchmark to other schools in terms of best practice. The holistic range of wellbeing focused practice in every aspect of the school’s work is extensive and led by committed and passionate school leaders. Staff and students rightly recognise and value the school’s efforts to ensure that Excellence, Happiness and Success is enacted daily and evidenced through stable staffing and above national student attendance.”


Eltham Hill School Named Gender Action Beacon School

Gender Action BeaconWe are proud to announce that Eltham Hill School has been recognised as a Gender Action Beacon School – one of only three schools in the country to receive this recognition.

The award reflects our ongoing commitment to challenging gender stereotypes and placing gender equality at the heart of our policies and practice. We work closely with staff and students to promote a culture where there are no limits on ambition or achievement based on gender. We believe that true gender equality drives lasting cultural change — and we are proud to be leading the way.  Our continuous whole-school review of our communications, displays, activities and lesson resources ensure that gender equality is embedded in every aspect of school life.


Eltham Hill School recognised as a UNICEF UK Silver: Rights Aware school

UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools LogoUNICEF is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. The Rights Respecting Schools Award is granted to schools that show commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children, and young people to respect the rights of others in school. Silver is given to schools that make excellent progress towards embedding the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child into its ethos and curriculum. There are over 1,300 schools across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales that have achieved Silver and over 600 schools that have been awarded Gold, the next step up and highest accolade granted by UNICEF UK.

PTI Subject Mark for outstanding teaching in Art, Maths, Science and Leadership

3 Subjects PTI Mark JPGThis year our Art, Maths and Science departments have been awarded The PTI Subject Mark for 2025. The Mark acknowledges a department’s work as a member of the Department Development Programme. Members commit to developing a challenging curriculum, enthusing pupils through extra-curricular subject-based activities, enriching teachers’ own subject knowledge and encouraging subject links. The Art, Maths and Science departments have been awarded the Mark in recognition of their achievement across these four key development areas which place subject at the heart of teaching. 

Leadership PTI Mark JPGEltham Hill School was also awarded The PTI Leadership Mark for 2025. Members of school leadership teams join The PTI Leadership Programme to focus on whole school leadership to drive and support the improvement of education for all children regardless of background or ability. This is achieved through three key themes: Ethos, Curriculum and People & Inclusion. The Mark recognises our SLT’s commitment to this programme. 

 


EqualiTeach GOLD Award

Equalities Gold Award LogoEltham Hill School has been awarded the EqualiTeach Gold Award for our continued work on Equality, Inclusion and Diversity across the school. Equaliteach states that Gold Award schools are, ‘ a beacon for others; where the positive impact of best equality and diversity practice is clearly visible’ Only about 20 schools nationwide have received this prestigious Gold Award and we are delighted that the commitment to a fully inclusive comprehensive education across our school community has had national recognition!

 


Wellbeing Award for Schools

WAS FBEltham Hill School has achieved the Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS) . This nationally recognised accreditation highlights our strong commitment to promoting emotional wellbeing and positive mental health across our whole school community. The award recognises our inclusive approach, strong pastoral systems and the way wellbeing is embedded into our curriculum, policies and daily practice. We are proud of this achievement and remain dedicated to ensuring that every student feels safe, supported and able to thrive. 

 


Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark

BDA quality mark LogoWe are proud to announce that Eltham Hill School has achieved the Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark from the British Dyslexia Association. This recognition reflects our strong commitment to inclusive practice, celebrating individuality and supporting learners with specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia.

Through staff training, a dedicated Inclusion Team and initiatives such as our Dyslexia Club, learners feel listened to, valued and supported to develop confidence, resilience and self-advocacy. A dyslexia-friendly approach benefits all learners at Eltham Hill School and enables students with dyslexia to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

ELTHAM HILL SCHOOL SHORTLISTED FOR BEST PRACTICE NETWORK APPRENTICESHIP AWARD

Badge Apprenticeship Employer of the YearEltham Hill School has been shortlisted for a Best Practice Network Apprenticeship Award 2026, after being nominated by one of its apprentices.

The Apprenticeship Employer Award celebrates organisations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to supporting apprentices in their professional development. Eltham Hill School was nominated in recognition of the support given to its apprentice to undertake the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL), alongside the confidence placed in them to lead a whole-school project aligned with their own leadership interests.

This approach reflects the school’s belief in empowering staff, encouraging professional risk-taking, and nurturing authentic leadership. The nomination highlights the positive impact that apprenticeships can have when employers provide meaningful opportunities, trust and sustained support.
