Computer Science

Computer Science helps students to develop critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills, which can be transferred to other subjects and to everyday life. It develops understanding of current and emerging technologies and how they work.

Through studying computer science students become discerning and independent users of IT, applying creative and technical skills, knowledge and understanding of IT to a range of problems.

Computer science at all key stages helps students evaluate the impact of computer technology in society and predict possible technology trends of the future.

At KS4, counting as an EBacc subject, computer science gives students a real, in-depth understanding of how computer technology works. It offers an insight into what goes on ‘behind the scenes’, including computer programming, the logic of a computer and how everything connects together

The KS5 courses provides excellent preparation for anyone wishing to study or work in areas such as engineering, financial and resource management, science and medicine.
